State of the Dead

1. What is death referred to in the Bible?

Answer: John 11:11 (Sleep)

2. What will happen to the righteous dead at the second coming?

Answer: I Thessalonians 4: 15,16 (they shall rise)

3. Where will both the righteous and the wicked dead rise/be resurrected from?

Answer: John 5: 28,29 (The grave)

4. What does the soul consist of?

Answer: Genesis 2: 7 ( form made of dust= body + breath of life = living soul)

5. What happens to the soul at death?

Answer: Ecclesiastes 12: 7 (body return to dust, breath returns to God)

6. What is breath?

Answer; Job 27:3 (the spirit of God)

7. Why shouldn't we trust the council of mighty men (princes) and common men ( sons of men) after they die?

Answer: Psalms 146:3,4 (The moment they die their thoughts perish)

8. Who has immortality and has been given glory and honor?

Answer: I Timothy 6: 16 ( Jesus Christ)

9. What is the true christian seeking to gain?

Answer: Romans 2: 7 (glory, honor, immortality, eternal life)

10. When will Christians be changed and receive immortality?

Answer: I Corinthians 15: 51-54 (At the trump at the resurrection/the 2nd coming)

11. Can the dead praise God? Where have they gone?

Answer: Psalms 115:17 ( No they can't. They've gone down in silence)

12. Did David ascend to heaven? Who did ascend?

Answer: Acts 2:34 ( No, David did not, our Lord, Jesus ascended)

13. Do the dead communicate with each other and honor each other?

Answer: Psalms 6: 5 (No, there is no thanks and honor there)

14. What do the dead know? What eventually happens to the memory of them?

Answer: Ecclesiastes 9: 5 (The dead know nothing. Their memory is eventually forgotten)

15. What hope is there for the dead?

Answer: Job 19: 25,26 (the righteous will be redeemed (saved) and made new.

16. Who is the owner of all souls? What law has he made concerning the sinner?

Answer: Ezekiel 18: 4 (We belong to God. Everyone must die, each man for their own sin.)[see verse 20 also]

17. What is the penalty for sin?

Answer: Romans 6: 23 (Death)

18. What is being reserved for those faithfully waiting on the Lord's appearance?

Answer: II Timothy 4: 7,8 (crown of righteousness)

19. Where is this reward and when shall we obtain it?

Answer: Revelation 22:12 (Reward is with Christ and will get it when he returns)

This study is to inform Christians there is no 2nd chance to get it right. There is no secret rapture. The dead is not in heaven praising God. Nobody goes straight to heaven. If anybody went straight to heaven surely David would be there. If everyone went to heaven or hell at death what would be the point of the second coming? The dead knows nothing and they have no concerns therefore, they cannot see what you are doing. They are not looking down on you or protecting you. The living knows of someone death but the dead does not know anything, there is no need for memorials. You cannot defeat death everyone must die. The wages of sin is death, if you obey God's laws you will receive God's gifts. On the new earth God will come back and your flesh will be made new. Our reward is waiting on us on the day of the second coming. Not immediately after death and only the righteous will receive this reward. The reward is with God and you receive according to your works. If good (crown of righteousness) If bad ( fire and brimstone). We have been deceived in the pulpits by false teachings. Most of the teachings came from paganism. We will continue the topic of paganism in another study at a later date. Stay tuned.
